Sprint GT Stock Shock vs Revalve
I finally got my hands on a Sprint GT shock to tear in to and get the valving data as well as spring info and specs. The graphs shown below are representing the stock rebound and compression of a stock 2008 Sprint ST shock vs the Sprint GT shock. You may notice that the rebound is slighty stiffer on the Sprint GT shock but keep in mind it also has a 1000 lb/in spring compared to the 750 lb/in of the Sprint ST so it has a little more spring to control. IMO the Sprint GT shock is still lacking damping in the rebound dept and would surely gain a better feel and more control with a bit more rebound damping added.
The compression damping also is stiffer on the Sprint GT but with both GT & ST shocks having the the same shaft travel the extra wheel travel on the Sprint GT is gained from a longer swingarm and having more leverage ratio also equates to needing more compression damping. A complaint that I hear is that the stock GT shock does not have enough lo speed damping on the compression cycle so that will be addressed when revalving it.
Here are the graphs and keep in mind these are comparing the stock GT & ST shocks.
